Mexican Black King Snake

Lampropeltis nigrita

30mi N. Hermosillo, Mexico

Disregard your previous idea of what a Mexican Black Kingsnake is from the fake (hybrid) Lampropeltis media. This is a real deal, locality Mexican Black Kingsnake with lineage tracing back to 30 miles north of Hermosillo, Mexico. This line originated in the 70's with Casey Lazik (yeah THAT Casey Lazik), who I purchased F4s from in 2021. Throughout their range, Nigrita often do not hatch black, but they hatch patterned like this little girl, eventually turning black. We have line bred them in the hobby for the darkest animals, resulting in offspring that hatch black. There is no line breeding going on here, only locality breeding.

The parents of this snake (photos available upon request) are nearly jet black and when I purchased them at a little over 6 months older were approaching black by that point. I am happy to provide interested parties with all available information I have on them. Casey Lazik is a very well respected herpetoculturist, so you know you're getting the real deal
